The position will involve working within a small team to assist in general engineering workshop duties. The role will likely involve varying tasks as required.

The tasks you might have but are not limited to include:

• Drilling/countersinking
• Making drill jigs
• Shot blasting
• Fettling (Grinding) with angle grinders
• Plasma cutting
• Cutting
• Straightening material
• Application of resins to metal
• Using hand tools files etc.
• Reading drawings and QA documents
• Completing QA documents and final inspection
• Packing materials

Training will be required and given. Engineering hands-on experience is needed. Please note that this position involves heavy lifting all day.

Working hours: 40 hour week (x 4 days). Monday to Thursday, 6.00am to 4.15pm

The above hours are set, however, you may be requested from time to time to work additional hours so a flexible approach is preferred.

This will be on a fixed-term contract up to September 2025, possibly up to December 2025.

You will be responsible for the maintenance of various quality assurance/control processes, supplier coordination, and documentation upkeep to ensure compliance with industry standards and customer satisfaction. The role involves analysis, reporting, and maintenance of key data.

Scope:

• You will be responsible for setting and operating CNC sliding head machines.
• Loading and running programs through prove out according to the tools list and works instructions.
• Producing a valid first-off component in line with component drawing and quality requirements.
• Loading and operating machines to meet desired quantities.
• Conducting in-process inspection, checking against drawings and specifications to ensure they are made accurately and to the highest standards.
• Completion of QA records.

Skills:

• Capable of programming Fanuc CNC machines. (Specific robot program training/operation will be given to the successful candidate).
• Capable of selecting the correct tooling and setting the machines as required to produce quality components by reading and interpreting detailed engineering drawings.
• We will consider transferable skills from grinding or milling to CNC turning.

Hours of work: Rotating early and late shifts.

Earlies
Monday to Thursday: 06.00am to 14.00.
Friday: 06.00 to 13.00 (37 per week).

Lates
Monday to Thursday:14.00 to 22.00.
Friday: 13.00 to 20.30 (37 hours per week).

Working hours:

• 8.00am to 4.30pm, Monday to Thursday.

Role will involve:

• CNC and manual turning.
• You would be required to be able to set and operate a 2-axis CNC lathe and manual lathe by following a setting sheet.
• Working with cast resin, steel, brass, aluminium and plastic.
• Batch sizes are usually 1-20 off.
• Some high tolerances on diameters.
• Ability to read engineering drawings as well as experience in repairing tooling to engineering drawings would be beneficial.
• Perform pillar drilling, tapping, polishing, cleaning and other tasks as required.
• Cleaning down machines and work areas at the end of the day.
