CNC Sliding Head Setter/Operator

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 per annum

We are currently recruiting for a CNC Sliding Head Setter/Operator for a precision engineering company based in Braintree, Essex, working a 37 hour week rotating early and late shifts.

Responsibilities:
• Operating a number of CNC Sliding Head machines.
• Operating and setting several CNC sliding head lathes.
• Loading and running programs through prove-out according to the tools list and works instructions.
• Producing a valid first-off component in line with the component drawing and quality requirements.
• Loading and operating machines to meet desired quantities.
• Conducting in-process inspection, checking against drawings and specifications to ensure they are made accurately to the highest standards.
• Completing all QA records.
• Following and complying with all site H&S procedures.
• Selecting the correct tooling and setting the machines as required to produce quality.

Skills:
• Experience in setting and operating CNC Sliding Head lathes.
• Experience of reading and understanding engineering drawings and tolerances.
• Proficiency in a range of measuring equipment and inspection techniques.
• Ideally, candidates will be apprentice-trained and have experience in an engineering environment.
• Must have previous experience of CNC setting and problem-solving, and be familiar with Fanuc or Siemens CNC programming.
• Be self-sufficient in carrying out quality control, first-off approvals, and in-process quality consistency checks.

Hours of work:
Early shift
• Monday – Thursday: 06:00 – 14:00.
• Friday: 06:00 – 13:30. 
Late shift
• Monday – Thursday: 14:00 – 22:00.
• Friday: 13:30 – 21:00.
