Part-Time Buyer

We are currently recruiting for a Part-Time Buyer for a manufacturer based in Braintree, Essex.

This is a newly created role working 20 hours per week, offering flexibility to work the required hours over 4 or 5 days per week.

You will ideally be CIPS qualified or working towards CIPS qualification, with experience in reviewing contracts, negotiating prices, identifying costs, CAPEX costings and spend analysis.

Experience within a manufacturing / Engineering environment is preferred.

Reporting to the Purchasing/Operations Manager, you will be responsible for contributing towards the successful delivery of the purchasing cost reduction strategy through the achievement of allocated purchasing projects and carrying out tendering processes. Ensuring alignment with company operational activities and sourcing goods and services that ensure the supply chain needs of the company are met in a timely and cost-effective manner.

Duties will include:
• Negotiating contracts on behalf of the Company for the supply of requisitioned or specified materials, goods and services.
• Completing cost reduction projects in areas of significant spend.
• Developing and managing the supplier base and continuing to improve Supplier Payment terms.
• Undertaking analysis of price variation by focusing on product cost drivers and cost reduction.
• Strategically maintaining competition amongst suppliers through communication, negotiation, appraisal and evaluation and competitive tendering.
